Tonic Labyrinthine Reflex & Symmetrical Tonic Neck Reflex Integration

Symmetrical Tonic Neck Reflex (STNR)
Distance to crawl: 8-12 feet (the size of a bedroom)
​Work up to 3 repetitions forwards and backwards
Proper Crawling Position
Fingers forward
Arms strong
Steady body
Flat back
Feet flat on the floor
Legs parallel
Slow, rhythmic movement
Opposite arm and leg move together
Issues to watch for when crawling
Hands splayed out
Hands facing in
Cupped hands
On fists
Pushing up on fingers
Elbows locked tight
One leg lags behind
Rocking
Swaying back
Arms trembling
​Additional activities to incorporate if needed:
Keep a balloon up in the air while on knees and/or while in crawling position
Watch a ball or toy be thrown up and fall back down by following it with the head
Rolling a ball back and forth between two people while in a crawling position. Roll the ball to the other person's opposite hand.
